In case anyone has forgotten what a Herring Gull looks like, this is a 3CY. Note the dumpier shape, shorter wings and paler back than Yellow-legged Gull. The eye-ring on this bird is reddish, so may be it is an out-of-season argentatus, which is also supported by its head and bill shape.
